Spanish Future Irregular Spanish Verb Conjugation

Spanish mini-course

Now we’ll learn the irregular verbs in the future or “will” tense. Next to the “Back” verbs, the irregular “will” verbs are the easiest to learn. The great thing is that they have the same exact endings as the normal “will” verbs. Let’s review the endings briefly:

remos
rás réis
rán

Right now, with the verbs you’ve learned, there are 11 irregular “will” verbs. I’ll go over them, then the best way to learn them is to go through the lessons in this section enough until the irregulars start to sound “natural” to you. Our goal is to provide enough practice in this section so the verbs do sound “natural” or “normal” to you.

Let’s take a look at them.

decir dir poner pondr hacer har
poder podr tener tendr venir vendr
querer querr valer valdr haber habr
“valer” is a new verb that means “to be worth”
saber sabr salir saldr

This last one, “haber” is from the “have” tense. Remember, the “have” or “present perfect” tense is used when you want to say phrases like “I have eaten” or “I have gone”. In this case, a “future have verb” would be “I will have eaten…” or “I will have gone…” Now, so these verbs will start sounding natural to you, let’s practice the conjugations one at a time with each verb. Are you ready? First, we’ll use the “yo” conjugation. Do you remember what it ends with? …….if you said “é”, you are correct.

I will say diré I will put pondré I will do/make haré
I will be able to podré I will have tendré I will come vendré
I will want to querré I will be worth valdré I will have habré
I will know sabré I will leave saldré

Now, I need to clarify something for a minute. Did you notice on this list, there is the word “have” twice. The first one, is for phrases like “I will have a house” or “a car”. Or, remember “tener que”? “I will have to go” will be “Tendré que ir”. The second one uses the “have” tense. For example, “I will have eaten” or “She will have gone” or “They will have run” and so forth.

Now let’s move on to the “tú” conjugation. Do you remember what it ends with?

You will say dirás You will put pondrás You will do/make harás
You will be able to podrás You will have tendrás You will come vendrás
You will want to querrás You will be worth valdrás You will have habrás
You will know sabrás You will leave saldrás

Now onto the “Él, Ella, Ud.” Conjugation. Do you remember what it ends with without looking at the chart?

He/She/You (formal) will say dirá He/She/You will put pondrá He/She/You will do/make hará
He/She/You will be able to podrá He/She/You will have tendrá He/She/You will come vendrá
He/She/You will want to querrá He/She/You will be worth valdrá He/She/You will have (eaten etc.) habrá
He/She/You will know sabrá He/She/You will leave saldrá

Now onto the “Nosotros” Conjugation. Remember the “nosotros” ending for future tense is “emos”.

We will say diremos We will put pondremos We will do/make haremos
We will be able to podremos We will have tendremos We will come vendremos
We will want to querremos We will be worth valdremos We will have (eaten etc.) habremos
We will know sabremos We will leave saldremos

Next is the “Vosotros” Conjugation used only in Spain and is the plural form of “tú”. Remember the “vosotros” ending for future tense is “éis”.

You will say diréis You will put pondréis You will do/make haréis
You will be able to podréis You will have tendréis You will come vendréis
You will want to querréis You will be worth valdréis You will have (eaten etc.) habréis
You will know sabréis You will leave saldréis

Now onto the “Ellos, Ellas, Uds.” Conjugation. Do you remember what it ends with without looking at the chart?

They/You (plural) will say dirán They/You (plural) will put pondrán They/You (plural) will do/make harán
They/You (plural) will be able to podrán They/You (plural) will have tendrán They/You (plural) will come vendrán
They/You (plural) will want to querrán They/You (plural) will be worth valdrán They/You (plural) will have (eaten etc.) habrán
They/You (plural) will know sabrán They/You (plural) will leave saldrán

Let’s review the ending one more time.
ré - rás - rá - remos - réis - rán
